Ships Blog 23rd October 2017

Its been an interesting October weather iwse with various storms in the offing. Storm ‘Brian’ passed of without too much incident here at the marina. It looks like the west coast of the UK had the brunt of it. You should have all had the yellow winter layup forms by now. Get them back in early if you want to book a lift or have any work to be done by the work shop. Martin and Guy are always happy to discuss your requirements. Don’t forget there is also a lay up form on our website. Lock closure for 2018 has been set to run from January 22 to Feb 2nd. Finally our picture is of the Border Force boat ‘Alert’ locking in for one of her regular overnights with us.

4th August 2017

Afternoon all and welcome to the Ships Blog for the beginning of August. Weather has been rather inconsistent of late. It has also been rather windy this week but things are quietening down for the weekend. There are some showers and thunderstorms possibly around Saturday afternoon and evening. Today’s picture is of the Border Force Rib ‘Alert’ coming in for an overnight berth. She is part of a new fleet of boats designed to reinforce the work of the more traditional cutters that patrol our waters! Have a good weekend.

Well here we are, mid July already! We have had some pretty impressive thunder and lightning during the early hours of this morning. The night duty lock master reported the whole of Harwich Harbour being lit up. Forecast for the next few days into the weekend is a mixed bag of sunshine and showers with the possibility of some more thunderstorms on Sunday morning. This weekend 22nd and 23rd we welcome the St Edmundsbury Yachting Association with approximately ten boats booked to stay with us. Sunday 30th July sees the Harwich Festival of the Sea taking place at the end of Harwich Lifeboat week.
