Ships Blog 10th February 2023

Morning all and welcome to the Ships Blog with some updates. All codes and car park pass’s have been sent out to the berth holders who have paid their mooring fees for 2023. Trenching work for the new water main is now in its final stages with the last bits of pipe being laid by the end of this weekend. Backfilling and making good will commence today. Parking is still very restricted through out the marina and we do ask if you can make sure access is left uninterrupted on Monday morning. We have a 40 Tonne crane coming through which is needed for the start of lock closure. After this with more back filling etc things will improve from Tuesday onwards. We apologize for the inconvenience that has been caused. Any questions please do not hesitate to call the Control Tower on 01473 788982.

Have a great weekend!

Friday 13th, unlucky for some – perhaps!. Welcome to the Ships Blog. Trenching work for the new water main is well underway. Please be considerate when parking at the marina and liaise with the Control Tower as well as the Yard crew if you have any questions. We have a new lady starting in the Control Tower called Ellie Doe. Starts Monday 16th January  and will be taking over a lot of Miriam’s role as she winds down to two days a week in 2023.

Weather wise its been a very changeable week with a number of depressions coming in from the Atlantic, wind and rain being the main theme. Next week its all change to a colder scenario from Sunday through to Thursday at least. There after it becomes milder until the end of the month.

A reminder that the Shipwreck is closed until Feb 13th. There is access for berth holders to use the ablutions but the toilets are closed to the general public.

Tides this weekend are Saturday HW 16:27pm 3.5M and Sunday 15th HW 17:21 3.4M so heading towards the bottom of Neaps. This weekends lockmasters are Andy Howard (days) and Colin Byford night watch. Have a great weekend and wrap up warm.

Ships Blog 6th Jan 2023

Morning all and Happy New to everyone. Hope you enjoyed your Christmas and are looking forward to the new season. Weather wise bit of a mixed bag here at Shotley over the next few days. We have some rain coming with a number of very windy days. The upside is that the temperatures remain quite mild for this time of year.

Other news, a new water main is being installed by Anglian Water. The trench work has begun this week at the North end of the marina along the north side of the roadway. This means that parking will at times be restricted on the north bank side of the road i.e. on the shingle. The general advise is to park on the tarmac beside the marina and to beware of blocking any machinery working in the area. We hope any inconvenience will be minimized with the work scheduled to be completed by mid February. For any advise or to answer any queries please do not hesitate to contact the Control Tower on 01473 788982.

This weekends duty lockmasters are Rob Devonshire, days and Andy Howard on nights. Tides are Sat HW 12:01 3.75M and Sunday 12:35 3.77M. Have a great weekend!
