Welcome the the Ships Blog. What a contrast to the weather we are having. The high pressure system to the north of us has been drawing cold air from the continent with North Easterly winds most of this week and will probably continue to do so into the weekend. The Autumn equinox occurred on September 23rd which has caused some of Spring tides to be a little higher than usual. Top of Spring tides this month occur tomorrow at 13.49 local time and reach 4.06 m and again on the 29th of October and reach 4.32 m at 17 minutes past midnight. Please note for your diaries the lock will be closed this Friday the 16th from 12.00 to 16.00. This is to allow Eon our electricity supplier to carry out some essential maintenance to the power supply in the Control Tower. Finally our picture is of our summer visitors lining up on the lock guard rail prior to departing south.
