Another wet and windy 24 hours ahead with storm ‘Barney’ arriving today across the UK. Again with the wind predominantly from the west we are reasonably sheltered here at Shotley. Today’s lockmaster Colin Byford has been around to check all the boats to make sure they are secure. This coming weekend expect another cold snap with temperatures dropping down into single figures and the chance of snow on higher ground! This period of cold weather may extend a few days into next week. News here at the marina, work has now begun on the bed and break units in the Shipwreck with all the upstairs function room floor being stripped out before moving on to the next phase of construction. Finally the pilot boat St Edmund has been lifted ashore for maintenance and an engine change.
