Ships Blog 31st March 2015

Afternoon and welcome to the Ships Blog. Current forecast shows some wind around for today and possibly tomorrow. More importantly the Easter holiday outlook not looking too bad either. Friday is the only day that will probably disappoint with rain for most of the day. However Saturday through to Monday is forecast to be quite good weather wise. The Shotley Point Yacht Club Boat jumble is still scheduled to go ahead for this Friday so bring an umbrella! We have had to cancel the East Coast Boat Show that was to be held on the weekend of April 25th and 26th due to lack of exhibitors signing up for the show. The plan is to leave it for this year and then have another go next year and see if there is any more interest. Other news, the pile extension work to the outside waiting pontoon by the lock is now completed. That should stop it floating of if we have another tidal surge! Ipswich Haven Marina are having a  cruise in company on May 9th with a fish and chip supper in the Shipwreck. The berth holders at Shotley are welcome to join them. Currently they have some 21 boats booked for that weekend. Just let Mim or Janey know if you would like to join us that evening. Finally we are scheduled to have the channel from the marker posts to the lock gates dredged in the next couple of weeks by the Harbour Authority. They have booked an injection dredger to do the work, probably called the ‘Odin’.
