Ships Blog 28th Feb 2017

Morning all and welcome to the end of Feb Ships Blog. At the moment the suns shining and the wind is blowing force three to four westerly, perfect sailing conditions – just a bit chilly thats all! Outlook remains cool, for the rest of the week/weekend with some rain about later this evening and some heavy rain forecast for Friday. We survived ‘Storm Doris’ without any damage to the boats or the marina. This was largely due to the fact that we were relatively sheltered from the westerly wind and we also managed to lower the level of the marina by approximately a metre to enhance the shelter given to the boats. Dates for the diary, Shotley Point Yacht Club have a visit to the light ship LV18 organised for the 11th March whilst on the 27th and 28th May they are holding an open weekend here at the marina. Todays picture is of the jack up platform ‘Wind Pioneer’ being towed out of Harwich Harbour.
