Ships Blog 10th May 2017

Good afternoon and welcome to a glorious day here in the Harbour at Felixstowe and Harwich. We have wall to wall sunshine this afternoon with a south east breeze blowing 10 knots average. People are actually out on their boatsĀ  enjoying the sunshine! Temperature is still a little cool with a wind chill of 6 degrees C. Important date for your diary. Monday 15th May there will be a Mini Lock Closure. Following a hefty collision of the inner gate when a boat lost all reverse propulsion inbound one of the gate sluice rams has begun to leak hydraulic oil. As a tempory measure we have shut down the hydraulics to that ram. We will however have to shut the lock for approx three to four hours to investigate and possibly change the ram. Please bear with us for those few hours on Monday morning. Other dates coming up are the RYA Push the boat out day here at the Marina organised by Shotley Point Yacht Club. That will be held on Saturday 20th May. Following on from that, the Shotley Point Yacht Club will also be hosting an open weekend on the 27th and 28th May, the bank holiday weekend. All are welcome. There will be stalls and attractions on the Shipwreck lawn and around the marina.
